"Will what we discuss be kept confidential?"
"What do those letters behind your name mean?"
Absolutely! I believe confidentiality is at the cornerstone of the client/counselor relationship. I will not disclose what we discuss without your written permission. There are a few exceptions by law:
"What about for distance counseling?"
I accept cash, credit cards (including HSA/FSA cards) via Square. I require a credit/debit/HSA card be kept on file for payment of late cancellations or no-show fees. I will email you an electronic receipt for your records.
"I have another question not answered here. How do I contact you?"
For those that are new to my practice, sessions are typically held once a week for about 50 - 55 minutes. Once a plan is in place, we may taper sessions to once every 2 weeks, then to once per month. The total amount of our time together will depend on your needs and preferences. Some issues are resolved in just a few sessions, while other concerns take more in-depth work. You are always in control and have the final say in how long we work together.
"Can I friend you on Facebook or other social media?"
Yes, you may cancel or reschedule your appointment by texting/calling me by phone. I require a 24 hour notice or you will be charged a cancellation fee. The cancellation policy is outlined in more detail in the intake paperwork.

"Do you accept insurance?"
Yes! I am currently in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield (PPO), Cigna, and Beacon/MOS. For any other insurance, I am currently considered an out-of-network (OON) provider for insurance companies. For OON benefits, clients pay me the full rate at the time services are rendered. I will then give you an itemized receipt for you to submit to your insurance company. Some insurance companies may reimburse you a percentage that you have paid to me. If you need to use your insurance, please confirm your OON benefits by asking the following questions:

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) which means I have taken and passed the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification (NCE) and completed over 3,000 post-graduate hours of supervised counseling in a professional environment. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) which is a premier certification that demonstrates to colleagues and the public that I have voluntarily met high national standards for the practice of counseling. In addition, I am also a Certified School Counselor (CSC) in the state of Texas. I hold an M.A. (Master's of Arts) degree in Communication and an M.Ed. (Master's of Education) degree in Counseling. Although counselors can become state licensed practitioners with a Master's degree, I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counseling to enhance my skill set and training even further.
